Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers won 4-3 over the Alaska Aces tonight, taking the first of a three-game series on the road in Anchorage.

On the Wranglers' first power play of the evening, forward Matt Tassone scored to make it a 1-0 game midway through the first. Alaska was quick to respond, and center Nick Mazzolini netted the tying goal two minutes later.

The 1-1 score carried over into the second as Wranglers forward Geoff Irwin posted a goal from the top of the left circle to regain the one-goal lead. Wranglers forward Carlo Finucci bolstered the lead three minutes later, going five-hole on Aces goalie Olivier Roy to give Las Vegas the 3-1 advantage at the end of the second.

Alaska cut the lead to one goal off the stick of defenseman Kane Lafranchise 7:22 into the third. Wranglers forward Robert Smith answered with his second goal of the season three minutes later for the 4-2 advantage. A late Aces power play opportunity saw forward Evan Trupp once again bring the score difference to one goal, but the Wranglers held Alaska off for the remaining 1:16 to secure the 4-3 victory. With the win, Wranglers goalie Mitch O'Keefe earned his first win of the season and made 31 saves.

The Wranglers and Aces meet for their second game of the weekend series tomorrow night at 8:15 p.m. After this trip to Alaska, the Wranglers face the Colorado Eagles and Idaho Steelheads on the road before returning home on Friday, Dec. 6. The Smithereens will play a post-game concert that night after a contest against the Bakersfield Condors.
