
Stingrays Fall to Everblades on Hockey Heroes for Epilepsy Night

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays (9-1-1-1) fell to the Florida Everblades (10-2-1-1) 4-1 at the North Charleston Coliseum on Hockey Heroes for Epilepsy Night Saturday evening. The loss snaps a season-opening 11-game unbeaten streak. In the postgame jersey auction, the Stingrays raised over $14,700 to fight epilepsy in the Lowcountry.
Stingrays forward Peter Boyd broke open the scoring 11:10 into the game deflecting a Patrick Gaul shot under the blocker of Everblades goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis (W, 27 saves on 28 shots). Forward Anthony Collins grabbed the second assist. The Everblades responded at 13:28 with a tally from forward Kellan Tochkin lifting a rebound over the outstretched glove of Stingrays netminder Jeff Jakaitis (L, 27 saves on 28 shots).
Forward A.J. Jenks gave the Everblades a 2-1 lead on the power play at 9:48 of the second period beating Jakaitis inside the left post. Forward Brandon MacLean made it a two-goal advantage at 3:33 of the third period and Jenks sealed the victory with his second goal of the contest at 15:41. The Stingrays finished the game going 0-for-3 on the power play while the Everblades went 1-for-3.
The Stingrays take on the Gwinnett Gladiators tomorrow, Sunday, November 17 at 3:05 in the first Kid's Day game of the season. All kid's tickets and kid's meals are $5!
