BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads, in a race to catch Las Vegas for second place in the ECHL's Pacific Division, lost both games to the South Carolina Stingrays at home over the weekend. The team is now 2-2-1 in its longest homestand of the season with hopes to improve that record as it turns its sights to the Long Beach Ice Dogs. The Dogs will finish out Idaho's eight-game home stretch with a three-game series, beginning Wednesday night.

IDAHO STEELHEADS RECORD:

33-18-7, 73 points. At home: 19-7-3. On the road: 14-1-4. Last ten: 6-2-2. Streak: 2-0-0.

OFFENSIVE:

Scott Burt, Dylan Gyori and Brett Draney have each tallied 11 points in their last 10 games.

DEFENSIVE:

David Cornacchia is tenth in scoring amongst defenseman, and tops the team for defenseman with 37 points, 8 goals, 29 assists...

IN THE NET:

Goaltender Blair Allison is 18-9-6, with a 2.56 goals-against average.

03/05/04: SOUTH CAROLINA 3, IDAHO 1

BOISE, Idaho (Ticker) -- Chris Allen scored twice and Kirk Daubenspeck stopped 42 shots to help the South Carolina Stingrays defeat the Idaho Steelheads, 3-1. Allen, who has five points in his last three games, scored with 4:11 left in the second period to even the score at 1-1 and netted the power-play, game-winner just 2:27 later. Daubenspeck made 16 saves in the second period and turn aside all 14 shots in the final frame to win his fourth straight. Dave Seitz assisted on two goals, including a tally by Robin Gomez in the third period for South Carolina, which has won four of the first five games on its road trip. David Cornacchia scored a goal and Blair Allison stopped 34 of 37 shots to suffer his first loss in 15

home games (10-1-3).

03/06/04: SOUTH CAROLINA 4, IDAHO 2

BOISE, Idaho (Ticker) -- Chris Allen scored the eventual game-winning goal to help the South Carolina Stingrays beat the Idaho Steelheads, 4-2. Allen tallied a power-play goal, his 13th of the season and seventh with the man advantage, midway through the second period to supply South Carolina with a 3-2 lead. Curtis Huppe connected on his 20th goal of the season, tying the score at 2-2 for the Stingrays 5:01 into the middle stanza. Kevin Spiewak netted an unassisted goal with 4:03 remaining in the opening period for South Carolina, which has won three consecutive games. Kirk Daubenspeck, who is 5-0-0 in his last five games, had 23 of his 28 saves over the final two periods. David Bararuk and Scott Burt both scored in the opening period for Idaho, which has lost both meetings with the Stingrays this season. Blair Allison, who entered the contest 10-1-3 with a shutout in 15 home games, gave up all four goals on 33 shots for the loss.

Thursday, March 11th 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. - Several members of the Steelheads team will be in the lobby of St. Luke's Hospital to answer phones for the Children's Miracle Network telethon.

Saturday, March 13th 9:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. - Goaltender Blair Allison, Forwards Scott Burt and Ben Keup, and defenseman Darrell Hay will be behind the bench coaching the police and firefighters in the 3rd Annual Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game to benefit MADD and MDA.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE:

The Steelheads will practice everyday this week at the Bank of America Centre from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Practice is free and open to the public and media.
