TWO IN TWO AGAIN: The Greensboro Generals look to improve on a 5-5-0 record over the last 10 games, when they make their return trip to Columbia and Gwinnett this weekend. The Generals, away from home because of the current ACC Men's and Women's Tournaments, are currently locked in a battle for fourth place with Charlotte, and sit just four points shy of the South Carolina Stingrays, and five points removed from the Florida Everblades. Greensboro will look to improve on a 15-12-1 record away from the Greensboro Coliseum, until March 17th when they return home.

PRIDE 4, GENERALS 2

FLORENCE, SC—In a tough battle for the Southern Division of the ECHL's Eastern Conference, the Greensboro Generals have moved into a third place tie with the Charlotte Checkers, following a 4-2 road loss against the Florence Pride.

The Pride (23-29-7) took an early 1-0 lead, following a Craig Brunel goal at the 7:29 mark of the game. An assist by Shaun Sutter, his first of two in the period, helped to find Brunel for the shot on net. Greensboro (33-24-1) would respond just over seven minutes later when Alex Andreyev recorded his first goal of the season, tying the game at 1-1. Florence would then retaliate with a power-play goal, just 57 seconds before first period intermission, when Sutter found Kyle Kidney, who this time converted a shot into a 2-1 advantage.

In the second period, Greensboro found scoring from familiar source Mike Bayrack, whose return from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League following a one assist performance, scored for his 10th goal in the last nine games played, tying the game at 2-2, following an assist from Matt Turek. Again Florence found the back of the net in the closing minutes of the period, this time when Riku Rahikainen scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 18:55 mark of the second.

The Pride's Josh Piro, a recent acquisition from Johnstown, scored the lone goal of the third period with an insurance goal past netminder Daniel Berthiaume just 4:39 into the third. Greensboro was able to convert only two of 32 shots on goal in the game, while holding the Pride to 22 shots for the game. The Generals now face-off against the divisional leading Columbia Inferno where they will attempt to cut into a 12-point advantage which the Inferno hold.

"We have 14 games left to play. We have to play each game like it is a playoff game, and just have to understand that we control our own destiny," forward Matt Turek said of the upcoming contests for the Generals.

INFERNO 2, GENERALS 0

COLUMBIA, SC -- Josh Blackburn stopped all 16 shots he faced to help the Columbia Inferno blank the Greensboro Generals, 2-0. Blackburn, who is 5-0-0 against Greensboro this season, had half of his 16 saves in the second period en route to his fourth shutout this season. The last shutout for Blackburn was on January 8 against Roanoke when he had 27 saves. Terry Harrison scored at the 9:17 mark of the opening period, his 15th goal of the season for Columbia, which improved to 5-2-0 against the Generals in 2003-04. Alex Burrows connected on his team-leading 28th goal of the season with 66 seconds remaining in the game for the Inferno. Jamie Hodson had 37 saves in the loss for Greensboro, which has dropped three consecutive games.

"Coaches Corner": The Greensboro Generals have announced Head Coach/General Manager Rick Adduono will appear on the "Our Town" radio show (WGOS 1070-AM) each Monday afternoon. The half-hour "Coaches Corner" will air each Monday at 1:00 PM throughout the season.

The "Coaches Corner" segment is part of the WGOS' "Our Town" program that is hosted by "Buffalo" Jack Umlaluf and Ogi Overman weekdays from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The show will feature interviews with Adduono as well as segments with Generals players and their involvement in the community.
