March 8, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ â The Trenton Titans got a rare week of rest before starting their weekend of play and the beginning of a twelve-day road trip. The Titans sat eight points back of the Reading Royals with points to be had in Cincinnati.
Trenton kicked off the weekend with a two-game set against the Cyclones at U.S. Bank Arena. On Friday night, Scott Bertoli notched his 200th assist as a Titan as his team came away with a 3-1 win. The next night, Trenton twice came back from one-goal deficits to send the game into overtime. Scoreless through overtime, the Titans could not get the puck past Cyclones goaltender Randy Petruk in the shootout as the Cincinnati clinched the 3-2 win.
Trenton finished the weekend on Sunday with a battle against the Peoria Rivermen at Carver Arena. It was an entertaining game that saw the Titans fight back from a 3-1 deficit and take the lead early in the third period. The Rivermen made a comeback of their own and sealed the deal with the game-winner at 3:45 left in the game to hand the Titans a gut-wrenching 5-4 defeat.
The Trenton Titans find themselves in sixth place in the Northern Division and six points behind the Reading Royals. The Titans continue their seven-game road trip with another match-up against the Peoria Rivermen at 7:00pm on Tuesday, March 9. Trenton will then travel to Dayton for two games against the Bombers on Friday, March 12 at 7:00pm and Saturday, March 13 at 7:00pm. The Titans conclude their trip with a matinee game against the Johnstown Chiefs on Sunday, March 14 at 2:30pm.
