
Grand Rapids Returns Baxter

BILOXI, Miss. â The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League announced that defenseman Jim Baxter has been reassigned to the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL.
Baxter, 24, appeared in two games with Grand Rapids scoring a power-play goal in his AHL debut on March 4 at San Antonio. A native of Brantford, Ontario, Baxter finished with the tally, +1 and four shots. The 6-foot-3 and 215-pound Baxter is second among ECHL defensemen with 58 points, tied for second with 16 goals and ranks fourth with 42 assists. He was named the C&T Hockey Products ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for December with a +13 and is +20 overall this season. In 2002-03, Baxter was named the ECHL Defenseman of the Year and All-ECHL First Team Defenseman. He was selected by the Boston Bruins in the seventh round, 180th overall in 1997 and taken by the Carolina Hurricanes in the seventh round, 202nd overall in 1999.
Baxter returns to the Mississippi lineup for the 7:05 p.m. game tomorrow against the Pensacola Ice Pilots at the Pensacola Civic Center. Listen live beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the Nextel Pregame Show on ESPN Radio WXBD-AM 1490 and online at msseawolves.com.
