January 7, 2020 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads have announced the total donations from the St. Luke's Children's Jersey Auction at CenturyLink Arena following Nickelodeon Night on December 14. This year, Steelheads fans contributed $9,865 in donations to St. Luke's Children's in support of pediatric research and initiatives.
Fans had the opportunity to purchase game-worn specialty jerseys themed for SpongeBob SquarePants as part of Nickelodeon Night. The jersey for Blue, the Steelheads mascot, sold for the highest bid, earning $1,500.
"Our partnership with St. Luke's has been a staple for the organization since we began in Boise, from being an important influence for our fans and the community to providing great, quality care for our players," said Steelheads President Eric Trapp. "Auctions like these help provide much needed care and research for an immeasurable number of children, and we continue to be proud of the Steelheads community in helping children in Idaho during the holiday season."
This was the second jersey auction of the season with three more remaining for the year, including one later this month. With these contributions, the Steelheads and St. Luke's have raised over $500,000 towards St. Luke's initiatives since the 1997-98 season.
"The collaboration between the Steelheads and St. Luke's over the years is a testament to our shared community efforts, and both organizations are proud to be community leaders in Boise and throughout the Treasure Valley."
Three specialty jersey auctions remain this season: Marvel Super Hero™ Night (January 18), the Jayden DeLuca Foundation Jersey Auction (February 7 & 8), and the St. Luke's Pink In The Rink Jersey Auction (March 20 & 21).
The Steelheads continue their six-game road trip against the Fort Wayne Komets on Friday, Jan. 10 at 6:05 p.m. MT and return to CenturyLink Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 7:10 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers.
