Stars Sign Mike McMurtry to Amateur Tryout

CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars, announced Thursday forward Mike McMurtry has signed an amateur tryout agreement with the team.

McMurtry, 23, joins the Stars after finishing a four-year career at Northeastern University, where he tallied 80 points in 141 games (20-60=80). The 6-foot, 200-pound native of Greely, Ontario served as an alternate captain during his senior season, and helped guide the Huskies to a berth in the NCAA Frozen Four tournament.

In his final year at Northwestern, McMurtry tallied 31 points (8-23=31) and appeared in all 41 games for the team.

The Texas Stars are the primary development affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars and currently in their seventh season at Cedar Park Center.
