Foster Recalled from Wheeling, Palazzese Released from PTO

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have recalled goalie Brian Foster from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), and goalie Franky Palazzese has been released from his professional tryout contract.

Foster has posted a 10-8-2-1 record in Wheeling this season, and has gone 3-1-1-1 since being reassigned by the Penguin to the Nailers on Mar. 10, 2016. In seven games during the month of March with Wheeling, Foster has recorded a .920 save percentage, a 2.16 goals against average, and posted his first shutout as a Nailer with 30 saves on Mar. 22 vs. Toledo.

The Pembroke, N.H. native has appeared in seven games this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, posting a 3.60 goals against average and .854 save percentage. The sixth-year pro recorded his first career AHL shutout with 30 saves in a 3-0 Penguins win at Syracuse on Dec. 19, 2015.

Palazzese made his AHL debut in a relief appearance for the Penguins on Mar. 9, 2016 and stopped all four shots he faced, becoming the goaltender of record in an overtime victory over Lehigh Valley. It was his only appearance for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

An undrafted free agent out of the Ontario Hockey League, Palazzese currently leads the Nailers with four shutouts this season. The 22-year-old second-year pro, has a 2.86 goals against average and a .904 save percentage in 35 net appearances for the Nailers in 2015-16.

The Penguins' next game is STAR WARS night against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, Apr. 2. The Penguins will be wearing special STAR WARS-themed jerseys to be auctioned off during the game with all proceeds benefitting the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) and Weinberg Food Bank's "Fill a Glass with Hope" program.
