Falcons Sign Montgomery, Johnson

Springfield, MA - The Springfield announced today that the team has signed defenseman Kevin Montgomery and Derik Johnson to a Professional Tryout Contract.

The 27-year-old Montgomery has recorded 4-13-17 in 34 games with the Florida Everblades (ECHL) this season. The Rochester, NY native has tallied 7-36-43 with 115 penalty minutes (PIM) in 190 career AHL games with the Lake Erie Monsters and the Oklahoma City Barrons.

Montgomery was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the fourth round (110th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.

The 26-year-old Johnson has totaled 1-9-10 in 50 games with the Reading Royals this season. The native of Bloomington, MN is playing in his first professional season after skating at the University of Minnesota-Duluth the past four seasons.
