Zack Stortini Named Binghamton Senators 2015-16 IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators are proud to announce that Zack Stortini has been named the team's winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Southern Tier community during the 2015-16 season.
This is the second time in his career that Zack has been named the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year by his team. From the very first day Zack entered the Southern Tier, his warming personality immediately started to resonate within the B-Sens community. Fans got their first look at the new captain off the ice during the Season Ticket Holder party in October. Memories of him being a player who consistently dropped the gloves with current and former B-Sens were erased and replaced with a man who was kind, polite and happy to speak with any person that may come his way.
Zack and his wife, Desiree, have spear-headed two community fundraising projects that have risen over $4,000 in addition to the team led community events. They also were part of a team event that saw 32 local families in need from the Children's Home get Christmas gifts. Both Zack and Desiree stayed after most of the shopping had been completed to work on specific families together and make sure everything would go smoothly for the present delivery. Zack has become a part of the Southern Tier area constantly running into fans around town and taking his own down time to go to local elementary schools to read to the kids.
Stortini is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL's 2015-16 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League at a later date.
