TUE., DEC. 6 vs. MILWAUKEE ADMIRALS - WELLS FARGO ARENA

STARS vs. Admirals: Stars Trail Season Series, 1-2

The 13-6-1-1 Admirals come to Wells Fargo Arena on Tuesday in third place in the West Division, three points behind the Peoria Rivermen and eight points behind the first-place Houston Aeros. Milwaukee has picked up at least a point in 15 out of their last 18 games and finished the month of November with 10 wins, tying the club record for wins in that month--- The Stars are 1-2 versus the Admirals this year, winning 3-2 in a shoot-out on Oct. 21 in Iowa, losing the last two games: 6-0 on Nov. 8th in Des Moines and 6-3 at the Bradley Center on Nov. 11th--- Milwaukee is 6-5-1-1 on the road this season--- Forward Kris Beech had a hat-trick last Wednesday night. He now leads the Admirals with 18 overall points, including 10 goals. Seven of the 10 goals have come on the power-play--- The Ads rank sixth in the AHL on the power-play. They have combined for 32 goals on 161 chances or 19.9%--- Goalie Brian Finley is tied for first with three shutouts. In nine games, he has three shutouts, a 6-1 record, with a 1.86 GAA and .933 save percentage.

The Stars earned the franchise's first win on October 16th, against these Rampage. In that game, defenseman Patrick Traverse recorded four assists, helping the Stars to a 7-2 win--- San Antonio will bring a 6-16-0-1 record into Wells Fargo Arena on Friday night, including a 2-7-0-1 stretch in their last 10--- The Rampage have been outscored 79-40, the largest such margin in the AHL--- They are the seventh least penalized team in the AHL with 490 PIM's--- They have used 28 skaters and five goalies this season.

Chicago hosts Peoria on Friday before playing the Stars on Saturday. At print time, they have a 6-10-1-2 record and are 3-6-0-1 in their last 10. They have played the least amount of games in the AHL, just 19--- The Wolves have lost four straight games, one shy of matching a season high; the losing streak has dropped the team four games below .500 for the first time since November 2002--- Ramzi Abid has registered nine points (5/4/9) in his last eight games, which includes a point in each of his last four and now leads the team with 10 goals, six power-play tallies and 20 points in 19 games this season. He ranks second on the squad with 10 assists and third with 54 penalty minutes.

- The Stars recorded a franchise record four game winning streak from Nov. 26th through Dec. 2, including two wins against Omaha.
- The Stars registered a power-play goal in six-straight games, before having the streak snapped on Saturday vs. Peoria.
- The Iowa Stars are 1-0 in overtime and 2-1 when the game needs to be decided by a shootout.

NOTES: The Iowa Stars extended their winning streak on Tuesday night with a 3-2 victory over the visiting Grand Rapids Griffins. The Stars registered the first goal of the game for the sixth time this season when Toby Petersen redirected Mario Scalzo's shot from the blueline past Grand Rapids' goalie Joey MacDonald. Petersen's power-play goal extended the Stars streak to five consecutive games with a power-play tally. The Stars gave up a two-goal lead in the second period when Bryan Helmer and Don MacLean scored for the Griffins. However, the game-winning heroics belonged to rookie Janos Vas. Vas registered his first American Hockey League goal at 2:14 of the third period when he unleashed a slapshot from the left faceoff circle that beat MacDonald glove-side-high. Stars goaltender Mike Smith made 23 saves en-route to his sixth win of the season.

NOTES: The Iowa Stars traveled to Omaha, Nebraska on Friday night, defeating the Knights 3-2, and in the process established a new franchise record, four-game winning streak. Toby Petersen notched his seventh marker of the year and his second goal in as many games, his fourth point in three games. The Stars Kyle Brodziak gave the Stars the lead with a high glove-side shot at 11:01 of the second period. In the second period, Petersen earned the distinction as the first player in Stars history to take a penalty shot at 15:59. Choppy ice caused the puck to skip-off Petersen's stick, making his back-hand shot easily stoppable by Knight's goalie, Brent Krahn. Iowa held the Knights to seven shots in the third period and for the first-time in franchise history, posted a four-game winning streak. Iowa pulled there record to 10-10 overall, 5-5 on the road and 5-5 at Wells Fargo Arena.

NOTES: The Iowa Stars had their four-game-winning streak snapped on Saturday night with a 4-3 shootout loss to the visiting Peoria Rivermen. By virtue of forcing overtime, the Stars did extend their point-streak to five straight games, earning nine out of a possible 10 points. Iowa had their six game streak of scoring at least one power-play goal snapped in the loss. The Stars defense allowed a team record 20 shots against in the first period, but goalie Mike Smith was up to the challenge, stopping all 20. They then allowed a franchise-low two shots in the second period. Mathias Tjarnqvist scored the Stars third shorthanded goal of the season.
