St. Cloud Rox celebrate a win

Waterloo, IA - St. Cloud (2-2) got an excellent start from Trevor Koenig (St. Cloud State), throwing six innings of shutout baseball and earning the win as the Rox split the two-game road series with Waterloo (3-1). Joey Stock (St. John's) tossed the final three innings to earn the save. The final score was 4-0.
The Rox jumped out to an early lead in the top of the second inning as Jordan Barth (Augustana) doubled off the center field wall to leadoff the inning. Freddy Achecar (Georgetown) followed with a walk and both runners would later steal second and third base respectively to move into scoring position. Garrett Delano (Brown) grounded out to shortstop, scoring Barth. Achecar would later score on a wild pitch as St. Cloud claimed a 2-0 lead.
Ben Carew (Kent State) would add to the Rox lead in the top of the third inning, drawing a leadoff walk. He stole second base and would eventually score on a wild pitch.
St. Cloud would add an insurance in the top of the seventh inning when Gus Steiger (South Dakota State) doubled off of the third base bag. Barth would follow in the next at-bat with a double to the gap in right field that scored Steiger.
The Rox home opener is tomorrow, June 1st at 7:05 p.m., featuring post-game fireworks presented by Coborn's. The first pitch will be thrown by World Series Champion and former Minnesota Twin Steve Lombardozzi. To view and download the full 2019 Rox schedule, click here .
