Rafters Defense Shines Again, Falls to Madison

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters defense held up well against the Madison Mallards, but the Rafters ultimately fell 2-1 in the team's 2019 home opener.

Anthony Warneke put the Rafters on top in the third inning, driving in Anthony Galason. In the fifth, Madison levelled the game when Justin Wiley stole home. EJ Ranel's RBI double in the seventh put the Mallards up for good 2-1.

Anthony Warneke went 2-for-3 and is hitting .250 for the Rafters. Richie Schiekofer continued his successful season at the plate, going 2-for-4 on the day. Rapids reliever Winston Allen gets the loss in 1.1 innings of work. Madison's Blake Cisneros earns the win and Theo Delinger gets the save.

The Rafters hit the road tomorrow for a Saturday night showdown with the Green Bay Booyah. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. in Green Bay.
