
Sounders FC Forward Will Bruin Undergoes Successful Surgery

SEATTLE, WASH. - Sounders FC today announced that forward Will Bruin underwent successful right knee surgery to repair an ACL tear suffered in training last month. The ACL reconstruction procedure was performed by Dr. Michael Morris on Tuesday, July 9 at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. Bruin began rehabilitation immediately following the procedure.
Will Bruin has 20 goals and eight assists in 69 regular-season appearances for Sounders FC since signing prior to the 2017 season (Mike Fiechtner / Seattle Sounders FC).
Bruin had two goals and one assist in nine appearances (four starts) in 2019 prior to the injury. The nine-year MLS veteran joined Sounders FC prior to the 2017 season after six seasons with the Houston Dynamo, and has recorded 20 goals and eight assists in 69 regular-season matches for Seattle. Combined with his 50 goals scored in Houston, Bruin's 70 career tallies rank sixth among active MLS players. He has also added eight goals in 19 career postseason appearances.
Seattle Sounders FC (9-5-5, 32 points) returns to action on Sunday, July 14 against defending MLS Cup champion Atlanta United FC at CenturyLink Field (12:55 p.m. PT / ESPN, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). Brian Schmetzer's club then continues its busy stretch of three home matches in eight days with an international friendly against German power Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, July 17 (7:30 p.m. PT / JOEtv, YouTube TV) before returning to action against Cascadia rival Portland Timbers on Sunday, July 21 (6:30 p.m. PT / FS1, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
