July 11, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
LA Galaxy News Release
LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy will honor U.S. Women's National Team forward Alex Morgan during the club's match this Friday, July 12 at Dignity Health Sports Park (8 p.m. PT; UniMas), after Morgan and the USWNT returned this week from winning the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup on Sunday in France. Fans can purchase tickets to the match at www.lagalaxy.com/tickets.
Morgan, who will be honored at halftime of Friday's contest, was instrumental in the USWNT's victorious World Cup campaign, earning Silver Boot honors after notching six goals and tallying three assists in 490 during the tournament. Their 2-0 victory over the Netherlands in the championship game made the USA only the second nation to successfully defend a World Cup crown.
Last night, Morgan was honored at the ESPYs in Los Angeles as she collected honors as the Best Female Athlete and the USWNT was named Best Team.
The 2019 USWNT Victory Tour, presented by Allstate, kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 3 when the USA hosts the Republic of Ireland at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. It will be the USA's first game on home soil after winning the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France. The match will be broadcast on ESPN2 and the ESPN App starting at 7 p.m. PT.
The LA Galaxy (11-7-1, 34 points) are 31-23-15 all-time against the San Jose Earthquakes. Friday's contest will mark the second and final meeting between the two sides this season.
