Bridgeport Islanders News Release
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Dec. 10, 2013) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers lost to the Albany Devils at Webster Bank Arena Tuesday by a final score of 3-0. Parker Milner started in net and stopped 28 shots while the Sound Tigers put 22 shots on Devils goaltender Keith Kincaid. The loss snaps the Sound Tigers four-game winning streak and drops their record to 9-11-1-3.
The Devils scored their first of two power-play goals late in the first period on Reece Scarlett's fourth goal of the season. Scarlett took a pass along the boards and skated to center point, where his blast went over Milner's shoulder and in for the opening goal of the contest.
Joe Whitney, who recorded points on all three Devils goals, scored his ninth of season midway through the second. He took a feed from Corbin McPherson and came into the Sound Tigers zone on a partial breakaway. Even with a defenseman on his back, Whitney managed to beat Milner and make it a 2-0 Devils lead.
Later in the second period, the Devils scored another power-play goal, this one off the stick of Raman Hrabarenka. Hrabarenka was at the left point before activating and sliding down towards the left circle. He took a cross-ice feed from Whitney and sent a one-timer past Milner for the goal.
Neither team scored in the third period and the Devils skated away with the victory. The two teams will play once again Friday at 7 p.m. at Times Union Center in Albany. The Sound Tigers will return home Saturday night for Pink Rink Night. The Sound Tigers will be wearing specialty jerseys that will be part of a silent auction during the game while fans are also encouraged to wear pink to the game. Faceoff for Saturday's game against Hershey is 7 p.m.
