Capitals Re-Assign Wey to Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have re-assigned defenseman Patrick Wey to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Wey, 22, made his NHL debut on Dec. 7 against the Nashville Predators at Verizon Center. The 6'3", 212-pound defenseman has appeared in seven games with Hershey this season, registering three points (one goal, two assists) and eight penalty minutes. Wey began the season with the Reading Royals (ECHL), tallying three assists in eight games.

Wey spent four seasons at Boston College from 2009-13, helping the Eagles win two NCAA national championships (2010, 2012). The Pittsburgh native was drafted by Washington in the fourth round, 115th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
