Coyotes Recall Gilbert Brule from Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled forward Gilbert Brule from the Portland Pirates, the club's America Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.

The 5-foot-11, 187-pound Brule has recorded 7-5-12 with a plus-3 rating in 11 games with the Pirates this season. His seven goals are tied for second most on the team and his four power-play goals rank first.

In parts of seven NHL seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers and Coyotes, the 26-year-old native of Edmonton, Alberta has played in 296 regular season games, collecting 43-52-95 and 154 penalty minutes. Brule registered 5-9-14 with a plus-7 rating in 33 games with Phoenix in 2011-12. He also appeared in 12 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Coyotes that season, totaling 2-1-3.

Brule was originally drafted by the Blue Jackets in the first round (sixth overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft.
