
Sound Tigers Rally Twice At Home

The Sound Tigers rallied for a 3-2 win over the Norfolk Admirals Saturday and a 3-2 overtime win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Sunday despite trailing after two periods of play in both home games,. The Sound Tigers finished last week on a three-game winning streak and tied with the Albany River Rats and Binghamton Senators for fourth place in the East Division with 14 points and a 7-6 record, including 6-1 at home and 1-5 on the road.
SAT NOV 13th vs. NOR, 3-2 W: SEAN BERGENHEIM notched his second two-goal game in a row, including with winner with :33.9 left in regulation, as the Sound Tigers rallied from a 2-0, third-period deficit to beat then-division-leading Norfolk 3-2. JUSTIN PAPINEAU also scored, ERIC GODARD had two assists, and WADE DUBIELEWICZ made 34 saves. MIKHAIL YAKUBOV and TRAVIS MOEN scored exactly one minute apart on the same second-period, major power play for the Admirals who had a 36-35 shots on goal advantage, were 2 for 6 on the power play and 2 for 2 on the penalty kill.
SUN NOV 14th vs. WIL, 3-2 OTW: BRUNO GERVAIS scored on a first-period power play and at even strength to tie the game in the third period, ROB COLLINS had two assists, DIETER KOCHAN made 19 saves, and JIM CAMPBELL scored a power-play goal with 1:30 left in overtime. The Sound Tigers were 2 for 7 on the power play and outshot Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 32-21. The Penguins were 1 for 7 on the advantage. Including last spring's playoff series, 15 of 19 all-time meetings of the Sound Tigers and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton have been one-goal games.
SOUND TIGERS PLAYER OF THE WEEK â D BRUNO GERVAIS Gervais was +2 in two games last week and took five shots on goal en route to the first two-goal game of his professional career Sunday. The St. Hyacinthe, Quebec native leads all Sound Tigers rookies and defensemen with three goals and also has one assist and four points in 12 games this season.
THIS WEEK â Sound Tigers End Home Stretch, Head Out Of Town
The Sound Tigers will finish a three-game home-stand when they host the Providence Bruins this Wednesday. They will begin a stretch of three straight road games when they visit the Philadelphia Phantoms this Friday and the Hershey Bears this Saturday.
WED NOV 17th vs. PRO, 7:05 p.m.: This will be the first of four meetings of the teams this season, the first of two at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard. The Sound Tigers are 2-7-3 all-time versus Providence, including 1-2-1 with a shutout win and two overtime losses last season. The Bruins finished last week tied with the Lowell Lock Monsters for fifth place in the Atlantic Division with 13 points and a 5-5-1-2 record, including 1-4-0-2 on the road. Providence is off until Wednesday.
FRI NOV 19th at PHI, 7:05 p.m.: This will be the third of eight meetings of the teams this season, the second of four in Philadelphia, as well as the second at the Wachovia Center, which is the home of the Phantoms' NHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Flyers. The Sound Tigers are 8-8-2 all-time, 1-1 this season, versus the Phantoms who finished last week in first place in the East Division with 20 points and a 10-2 record. They also finished last week on a ten-game winning streak and 7-0 at home, both of which are the best marks in the AHL so far this season. Philadelphia will host Binghamton this Wednesday.
SAT NOV 20th at HER, 7 p.m.: This will be the first of eight meetings of the teams this season, the first of four in Hershey. The Sound Tigers are 4-7-3 all-time versus the Bears, including 4-3-1 with a shutout win last season. Hershey finished last week in seventh place in the East Division with nine points and a 4-8-1 record, including 2-3-1 at home. The Bears will visit Norfolk this Wednesday and Albany this Friday.
