Sound Tigers End Road Stretch With Weekend Split

The Sound Tigers finished a stretch of five straight road games by splitting a weekend trip through the Atlantic Division losing 2-1 to the Hartford Wolf Pack Saturday and beating the Portland Pirates 3-1 Sunday. They finished the week tied with the Binghamton Senators for fifth place in the East Division with ten points and a 5-6 record, including 4-1 at home and 1-5 on the road.

SAT NOV 6th at HAR, 2-1 L: GRAHAM BELAK opened the scoring with 4:50 left in the first period off an assist from BARRETT HEISTEN to snap the Sound Tigers' scoreless skid at 215:58. However, ALEXANDRE GIROUX, in the second period, and CRAIG WELLER, unassisted in the third period, answered for Hartford who improved to 8-0 as the AHL's only unbeaten team. JASON LaBARBERA made 30 saves for the Wolf Pack while WADE DUBIELEWICZ made 32 for the Sound Tigers who were outshot 34-31. The Sound Tigers were 0 for 2 on the power play but 3 for 3 on the penalty kill.

SUN NOV 7th at POR, 3-1 W: En route to their first road win of the season at the end of a stretch of five straight games away from Bridgeport, the Sound Tigers snapped an 0 for 29 power-play drought on a pair of goals on the advantage by SEAN BERGENHEIM, KEVIN COLLEY scored into an empty net, JUSTIN MAPLETOFT assisted on all three goals, and DIETER KOCHAN made 26 saves. The Sound Tigers were 2 for 3 on the power play and 5 for 5 on the penalty kill, including a pair of first-period, two-man advantages. They also had a 35-27 shots on goal advantage.

SOUND TIGERS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – RW SEAN BERGENHEIM

Bergenheim opened the scoring in Sunday's win at Portland with a pair of power-play goals to earn the first star of the game. The Helsinki, Finland native is tied for the Sound Tigers lead with three goals and also has three assists and six points in 11 games this season.

THIS WEEK – Sound Tigers Return Home For Three Games In Bridgeport The Sound Tigers will open a three-game home-stand with a pair of games at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard this weekend when they host the Norfolk Admirals this Saturday and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this Sunday.

SAT NOV 13th vs. NOR, 7:05 p.m.: This will be the first of eight meetings of the teams this season, the first of four in Bridgeport. The Sound Tigers are 4-6 all-time versus Norfolk, including 4-4 last season with three shutouts and a 2-2 mark at home. The Admirals finished last week in third place in the East Division with 13 points, one behind the Philadelphia Phantoms and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and a 6-4-0-1 record, including 2-3-0-1 on the road and 0-1-0-1 in their last two games. Norfolk will visit the Binghamton Senators this Wednesday and the Albany River Rats this Friday in the third and fourth games of six in a row on the road. The Admirals will end the road stretch this Sunday in Philadelphia.

SUN NOV 14th vs. WIL, 4:05 p.m.: This will be the second of eight meetings of the teams this season, the first of four in Bridgeport. It will also be Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's first visit since game seven of last season's East Division semi-final, which the Penguins won in overtime. The Sound Tigers are 7-3-1 all-time versus Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, including 0-1 this season and 3-1 at home last regular season. Including last spring's playoff series, 14 of the 18 all-time meetings of the Sound Tigers and Penguins have been decided by one goal with a 15th ending in a tie. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton finished last week on a five-game win streak and tied with Philadelphia for first place in the East Division with 14 points and a 6-4-1-1 record, including 2-2-1 on the road. The Penguins will visit the Phantoms this Friday in the first of three straight road games.

The Team Mascot STORM is scheduled to appear at the 75th Golden Harvest Fair at the Golden Hill United Methodist Church in Bridgeport this Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. • This Saturday will be "Fairfield and Wilton Family Fun Night" with specially-discounted tickets for town residents who purchase in advance by calling 203-334-GOAL. • The Fairfield Police Department will present the colors, and Our Savior's Lutheran Church will perform the national anthem prior to this Saturday's game.
