LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
At Worcester (11/5): The Manchester Monarchs were handed their first loss of the season by the Worcester IceCats, 4-2, at the DCU Center (formerly the Worcester Centrum) on Friday night. The Monarchs came out strong, tying the IceCats 2-2 in the first period with a pair of goals from left wing Dustin Brown to counter the IceCats goals from right wing Jon DiSalvatore and defenseman Aris Brimanis. The second and third periods belonged to Worcester with goals from centers Blake Evans and Ryan Ramsay. Monarchs goaltender Mathieu Garon took his first loss of the season and snapped his 15-game AHL unbeaten streak (13-0-2) dating back to the 2002-03 season. IceCats goaltender Curtis Sanford earned his sixth win of the season, stopping 26 shots. Manchester was 1-7 on the power play and Worcester went 3-11.
Vs. Albany (11/6): Left wing Dustin Brown recorded his first professional hat trick as the Monarchs skated to a 5-2 win over the Albany River Rats at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. Center Michael Cammalleri recorded a power play goal and right wing Tom Kostopoulos tallied a short-handed goal to finish off the River Rats. Center Pascal Rheaume and left wing Ryan Murphy found the net for Albany. Goaltender Mathieu Garon earned the win for the Monarchs, stopping 27 shots. Albany's Scott Clemmensen took the loss with 22 saves. The Monarchs were 2-4 on the power play and the River Rats went 0-6.

News & Notes
The first professional hat trick for left wing Dustin Brown highlighted the Manchester Monarchs 5-2 victory over the Albany River Rats on November 6. Brown, a first-round selection of the Los Angeles Kings (13th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, scored once in the first period and twice in the third period. His three goals helped the Monarchs improve to 8-1-0-0 on the season.
Brown, who turned 20-years-old on November 4, also collected a pair of goals in the Monarchs 4-2 loss to the Worcester IceCats on November 5.
In two weekend games, Brown, who spent his entire rookie season with the Kings (31 games, 1 goal, 4 assists, 5 points), registered five goals on 10 shots and finished with a plus-2 rating.
Brown, a native of Ithaca, New York, has scored at least one point in eight of the nine games he's skated in for the Monarchs this season. He's also scored at least two points in four of the nine contests.
Brown's season totals include seven goals, 13 points (7-6=13), four penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating in nine games.
The Monarchs have scored the first goal in all nine contests they've skated in this season.
The Monarchs skated through their first seven games without trailing at any point in any game. That impressive streak came to an end on November 5 when Worcester IceCats center Blake Evans scored a second period power play goal (12:08).
Goaltender Mathieu Garon took the loss for the Monarchs on November 5 against the IceCats. The loss snapped his 15-game AHL unbeaten streak (13-0-2) dating back to the 2002-03 season.
Garon bounced back nicely on November 6 and won for the fifth time in six outings this season (5-1-0) with a 5-2 decision over the Albany River Rats.
Garon, who finished with 27 saves in that game, leads the Monarchs with five wins and two shutouts. Garon also ranks among the AHL's top netminders with a 1.84 goals -against-average and a .939 save-percentage.
The Monarchs, who led the AHL in attendance in each of the last two seasons, are at it again. They lead the AHL with an average of 8,786 fans after four home dates. The Monarchs averaged 9,141 fans over 40 home dates last season.
The Monarchs lead the AHL with 16 power play goals, and they're also tied with the Providence Bruins for the top power play success rate in the league. The Monarchs have converted 25 percent (16 of 64) of their power play chances this season.
Center Michael Cammalleri, right wing Tom Kostopoulos and right wing Brad Smyth all share the Monarchs team lead with three power play goals.
Kostopoulos registered his 100th AHL goal with a short-handed tally against the River Rats on November 6. Kostopoulos, who leads the Monarchs with 11 assists, has 260 points (100-160=260) in 327 career AHL games.
Kostopoulos also leads the Monarchs with seven multi-point games this season.
Cammalleri and center Yanick Lehoux extended their scoring streaks versus the River Rats on November 6. Cammalleri has nine points (3-6=9) in his last five games and Lehoux has 10 points (4-6=10) in his last six games.
Cammalleri (6-10=16) and Lehoux (9-7=16) are tied for the Monarchs lead in scoring. Their 16 points also rank second best overall in the AHL to Manitoba's Jason King (12-5=17) and Peter Sarno (4-13=17). King and Sarno are tied for the league lead with 17 points this season.
Lehoux's nine goals rank second best in the league to King, who has 12 goals. Kostopoulos' 11 assists rank second best in the league to Sarno, who has 13 assists.
Smyth's team-leading point streak ended at eight games against the River Rats on November 6. Smyth, who had 10 points (4-6=10) during the streak, is tied for 56th on the AHL's all-time scoring list with 535 points (273-262=535) in 478 career AHL games.
Left wing Noah Clarke and defenseman Joe Rullier share the league lead with a plus-10 rating.
The Monarchs lead the AHL with a 4.56 goals -per game average and they're tied for second in the league with a 1.78 goals - against-average.
