
Norfolk Shuts Out Providence, Falters In Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

NORFOLK, VA â Craig Anderson stopped 32 shots as the Admirals blanked Providence 1-0 on November 6. The next night at Wilkes-Barre, the Penguins overcame early leads by Norfolk to claim a 3-2 shootout win. Four goals in the third period launched Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to a 6-2 over the Admirals on Sunday, November 7.
Norfolk continues a six-game road jaunt this week with four games in four venues, starting in Binghamton on Wednesday, November 10 and concluding in Philadelphia on Sunday, November 14.
STANDINGS
Norfolk is currently third in the East with 13 points (6-4-0-1). Philadelphia (7-2-0-0) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (6-4-1-1 share first place with 14 points each. Albany is fourth with 12 points (5-5-1-1) followed by Bridgeport (5-6-0-0, 10 pts), Binghamton (4-4-1-1, 10 pts) and Hershey (3-6-1-0, 7 pts).

ADMIRALS NOTEBOOK
· G Craig Anderson is second in the league in GAA (1.29) and spct. (.957) and is tied for most shutouts (two).
· Anderson had a five-game winning streak halted with a 3-2 shootout loss at Wilkes-Barre on November 6.
· Five of the seven power play goals Norfolk has allowed this year have been scored by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
· RW Shawn Thornton tied Greg Smyth for fifth place on the AHL career PIM leaders list when he received two PIM vs. Providence on November 5. The next night at Wilkes-Barre, Thornton took over fourth place with 10 PIM, surpassing Serge Roberge. He currently has 1,982 AHL career PIM.
· D Jim Vandermeer has PIM in seven consecutive games (34 PIM since October 27 vs. Albany).
· D Anton Babchuk netted his first points of the season with a pair of assists at Wilkes-Barre on November 7.
