Snappers Smash 20 hits in 11-2 victory over Timber Rattlers

APPLETON, WI - In an offensive explosion, the Beloit Snappers dominated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on getaway day in Appleton by a final score of 11-2. In the ballgame, the Snappers were able to slug out 20 hits with five players collecting multi-hit games.

For the Snappers, they would get the offense going early and often with two runs right away in the first inning. After Nick Ward and John Jones both reached via singles, Anthony Churlin would follow up with a single of his own plating both runners and giving Beloit the early lead.

The scoring for Beloit would not stop though in the first, as Churlin would hit his second homer of the season in the third to give the Snappers a 4-0 lead. Then, Beloit would continue their hot offensive hitting ways the rest of the game with another run in the fourth and 3-run innings in the sixth and the ninth to go on to win 11-2.

For the Snappers offensively, Nick Ward and John Jones paced the offense, as they both collected 5 hit games with Ward scoring 3 runs and knocking in 2. Jones also scored a run of his own and knocked in a run.

Sandwiched in between Ward and Jones was Cobie Vance who also was tremendous at the plate today. Vance collected 4 hits of his own, while scoring a run and driving in two. Churlin and Max Schuemann also picked up a multi-hit game today with 2 hits each.

In total, the Snappers collected 20 hits today with 14 of those hits coming from the 1-3 hitters in the ballgame. Additionally, today was the second straight day where the Snappers reached double digits in hits and slugged at least one homer.

On the mound for Beloit, Joe DeMers got the start and the win after five strong innings of work. DeMers was stellar on the mound giving up just 2 runs, on 5 hits, while striking out 5 to 0 BB.

Chase Cohen would take over for DeMers in the sixth and would pick right up where DeMers left off tossing 4 scoreless innings of his own. Cohen will earn the save on the afternoon giving up no runs on no hits and four strikeouts.

Beloit will be back at it again on Wednesday in Bowling Green, Kentucky when they take on the Hot Rods for the first time this season. All-Star Aiden McIntyre is slated to get the start for Beloit with first pitch at 6:35 CDT.
