Skyforce Acquires Jacobi Boykins, 2nd Round Pick from Vipers

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired guard Jacobi Boykins along with a 2020 NBA G League 2nd round draft pick (via Wisconsin) from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. In exchange, the Skyforce is sending the Vipers the returning player rights to forward Jarnell Stokes.

Boykins, a 6-6, 180-pound guard out of Louisiana Tech has appeared in a total of 59 games (nine starts) for Rio Grande Valley over the last two seasons. Now in his second season, Boykins is averaging 13.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 26.1 minutes across 31 appearances for the Vipers. Boykins matched a career-high with 29 points, including seven made three-pointers, against the Memphis Hustle on December 31, 2019.

Prior to his professional career, Boykins appeared in 132 games (94 starts) in his four-year career at Louisiana Tech. In total, Boykins averaged 10.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 39.2 percent from three-point range. Boykins averaged 14.7 points per contest in each of his final two seasons and accompanied that with a career-high 4.9 rebounds per game as a senior during the 2017-18 campaign.

Boykins will wear No. 1 for the Skyforce and is expected to be available for tomorrow night's Western Conference matchup with the Texas Legends at 7:30 PM CT. The livestream can be found on the NBA G League website.
