Legends Chase Away Vipers

FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends (20-18) dominated the fourth quarter to overwhelm the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (12-25) 140-120.

The two teams opened the match exchanging baskets and leads early. After four lead changes, Texas took control and used a 13-point performance from Moses Brown to build a double-digit advantage. With just under 1:30 left in the first, the Vipers sprinted to the buzzer on a 10-2 run to cut the lead to seven. The visitors continued chipping away in the second taking the lead five minutes in with back-to-back threes from Chris Clemons and Jarell Martin. After building their largest lead of the night (+9), RGV gave up eight straight allowing Texas to tie it up at the half.

The Legends came out of the locker room firing to take the first lead of the second half. A nine-point swing faded quickly with Isaiah Taylor powering out 12 third-quarter points. The Vipers regained the lead with just under three minutes in the quarter, but Texas responded with a 13-2 run to lead 103-95 going into the final minutes. RGV made it a five-point difference early in the fourth as Hartenstein took advantage of every opportunity, but the Legends were soon beyond reach knocking down 65% and 50% outside.

Cameron Payne led the Legends with a full stat line of 22 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Moses Brown finished with 21 points, 6 rebounds while Antonius Cleveland and Dakota Mathias added 18 points apiece. Josh Reaves tallied 17 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals while Aric Holman grabbed 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Yudai Baba and Jaylen Hoard put up 11 points each with Hoard adding 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Rockets assignees Isaiah Hartenstein and Chris Clemons led the Vipers with a combined 51-point performance. Hartenstein grabbed 27 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 assists while Clemons added 24 points, 2 rebounds, and 7 assists. Isaiah Taylor finished with 19 points, 5 assists, and William Howard tabbed 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Jarell Martin came off the bench for 11 points, 5 rebounds, while Michael Frazier rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points, 2 rebounds.
