FORT WAYNE, Ind.--The Beloit Sky Carp broke out with their best offensive performance of the season Tuesday night in Fort Wayne, belting 17 hits in a 14-4 victory over the TinCaps in the opener of a six-game series.
Beloit's offensive breakout was highlighted by Tanner Allen. In his first game with the Sky Carp this season, Allen reached base in all five plate appearances, He walked twice, singled, doubled and homered to key the attack.
After Fort Wayne scored a run in the first inning, the Sky Carp took control of the game for good in the top of the third. Josh Zamora got the squad on the board with a two-run homer.
Beloit would go on to add three in the sixth, three in the seventh and five more in the ninth to cap the outburst.
Kahlil Watson joined Allen in the three-hit club, while Brady Allen homered and Dalvy Rosario and Davis Bradshaw each finished with a pair of hits and an RBI.
Holt Jones got the start and pitched four solid innings. Tyler Eckburg (2-0) got the win with two scoreless innings behind Jones.
The Sky Carp and TinCaps will go at it again Wednesday at 5:35 p.m. Central time. Beloit will return home on Tuesday to take on the South Bend Cubs.
The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
