Shawn Collymore Returns To Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Shawn Collymore ["KAHL ih moor"] has been returned to Reading from the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL. In separate transactions, the Royals also: (i) activated Victor Uchevatov from the 30-Day Injured Reserve; (ii) placed defenseman P.J. Atherton on the 7-Day Injured Reserve; (iii) placed defenseman Rob LaLonde on the 30-Day Injured Reserve; and (iv) moved forward Matt Herneisen from the 7-Day Injured Reserve to the 30-Day Injured Reserve.

Collymore (6'0/190) (24), who hails from LaSalle, Quebec, signed with the Royals this past summer and was loaned to Norfolk during training camp. He remained with the Admirals where scored a goal and assisted on another in a season that has been limited to ten games due to injury. He last played for Norfolk on December 19, 2007. Collymore, a fourth year pro, was Reading's third leading scorer 2006-07, when he bagged sixteen goals and a career high thirty-two assists (forty-eight points) in fifty-five ECHL games. He earned three separate call-ups to the Binghamton Senators of the AHL last season. Collymore had three separate multi-goal games for Reading last year, including a hattrick against the Toledo Storm on November 17, 2006, when he bagged three goals (including the game winner) in a span of 6:14 in the second period. Collymore, a fifth round pick of the New York Rangers in 2001, had four game winners last year, including the game deciding goal in the Royals' dramatic 4-3 victory against the Johnstown Chiefs in the second to last game of the season to keep the team's playoff hopes alive. In that game, Collymore factored in all four goals for the Royals, scoring twice and assisting on the other two. Collymore, who has 117 total points (47g - 70a) in 174 regular season pro games, registered the second best plus/minus total for the Royals last year, playing to a +13.

The Royals return to action tonight (Wednesday, February 20; 6:35 pm), when the Texas Wildcatters visit the Sovereign Center. the game night broadcast will begin at 6:05 pm with the pre-game warm-up show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata, as well as on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
