"Puttin' Pucks Hockey Night" This Saturday

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL will combine hockey sticks and golf clubs Saturday for "Puttin' Pucks Hockey Night" when they host the Utah Grizzlies at 7:11 p.m. at US Airways Center.

Presented in partnership with Southwest Section PGA and Golfsmith, the event will feature five-time PGA Tour winner and Scottsdale resident Billy Mayfair who will drop the ceremonial first puck.

Mayfair, who is currently playing his 18th consecutive season on the PGA Tour, has won some of the Tour's most prestigious events, including the Western Open, Buick Open, Nissan Open, and the Tour Championship. He currently ranks 34th on the PGA Tour All-Time Career Money List with over $14 million in earnings.

The first 1,000 fans will receive a $10 gift card courtesy of Golfsmith, and there will be a variety of interactive golf activities and exhibits throughout US Airways Center.

In addition, Miss Arizona 2008 Nicole Turner will also be in attendance.

The RoadRunners return to US Airways Center at 7:11 p.m. Thursday when they host the Utah Grizzlies in the opener of a two-game weekend series. Phoenix is currently in seventh place in the National Conference playoff race with a one point lead over Stockton and Bakersfield. Eight teams in the conference will advance to the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
