Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced on Wednesday the rosters for the 2008 Mississippi Coast Challenge exhibition game featuring NHL Alumni facing off against Sea Wolves and ECHL alumni, which will be played at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon prior to the Sea Wolves game against the Gwinnett Gladiators scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Appearing for the Sea Wolves and ECHL Alumni squad are former Sea Wolves Steve Cheredayk, Kelly Hultgren, Chuck Thuss, Dean Hulett, John Evangelista, Steffon Walby, Austin Miller, Pat Rochon, and Chad Dameworth, ECHL Alumni John Schiller and Kevin Pozzo from the New Orleans Brass, Val Passarelli from the Pensacola Ice Pilots, Mike Dennis from the Mobile Mysticks, and former Junior Sea Wolves players Justin Messer and Kyle Kinsey.
"I've put the pads back on for the first time in a while," said Thuss, who was one of the netminders on the 1999 Sea Wolves team that captured the Kelly Cup Championship. "It's just like riding a bike though, we'll get out there and it will all come right back. We're all looking forward to a fun event that will be a good time for us and a great time for the fans."
The NHL Almuni and Celebrity team will include former players Gerald Diduck, Reed Larson, Joe Dziedzic, Dennis Maruk, Ian Turnbull, Mike MacWilliam, Dan Bouchard, Bernie Nicholls, New Orleans surgeon Lance Burns, Phil Tritz from Habitat for Humanity, Steve Marotte and Oscar Gonzales from the United States Air Force, and Ryne Sanborn, who starred in Disney's High School Musical and High School Musical 2.
"We've been to a bunch of different places, Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Honolulu, Aspen, and now we're headed to Biloxi," said Larson, who appeared in 904 NHL games with Minnesota, Detroit, Buffalo, the New York Islanders, and the Boston Bruins, as well as playing with the American Hockey League's Maine Mariners, and the original International Hockey League's Minnesota Moose. "Whether we play a hockey game, golf, do a silent auction, it's a great way to raise money for some great causes and we're happy to do it. It's a winning combination."
Admission to the Mississippi Coast Challenge is free with the purchase of a ticket for Saturday's game. For more information, call 228.275.WOLF!
NOTE: Fans attending games should allow extra time to arrive at the arena and park due to construction on U.S. 90 in Biloxi.
