Harrisburg Senators News Release
Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators saved their best for last Wednesday night against the Bowie Baysox. New addition Bill Rhinehart drilled a three-run double in the bottom of the 8th to get the offense going and Luis Jimenez chopped a bases-loaded infield single to plate the winning run in the bottom of the 9th. The victory snapped a five-game skid for the Senators.
Harrisburg RHP Craig Stammen was tremendous again, going toe-to-toe in a pitcher's duel with Bowie RHP David Hernandez. They combined to keep the game scoreless through four innings.
In the 5th, Bowie got on the board. Mike Rodriguez led off with a double down the right-field line. He moved up on a sacrifice bunt and scored on an RBI groundout by Nolan Reimold to make it 1-0.
The Senators struggled early in the game, leaving runners in scoring position in the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 7th innings. In the 8th, Rhinehart came up with two out and the bases loaded and hammered a double to the gap in right-center, plating all three runs to make it 3-1.
In the top of the 9th, Blake Davis doubled with two out and a man on base to put the tying run in scoring position. Rodriguez followed with a two-run single to plate the tying run and make it a 3-3 game.
The Senators won it in the bottom of the 9th. Mike Daniel laced a one-out double into the left-field corner. After an intentional walk and Leonard Davis's single to load the bases, Jimemez came up with a high chopper up the middle for an infield single and Daniel raced home with the winning run.
RHP Adam Carr blew a save but picked up the win to move to 1-0. Bowie LHP Rommie Lewis took the loss to fall to 0-5.
The Senators improved to 45-38. The Baysox dropped to 48-37.
The series finishes Thursday at Commerce Bank Park. Game time is 6:35 PM with Eastern League All-Star RHP Bobby Brownlie (6-0, 3.33 ERA) facing Bowie RHP Chorye Spoone (3-3, 4.21 ERA).
