Connecticut Defenders News Release

NORWICH, CT- The Defenders' newest member got some great news today. Switch-hitting catching prospect Pablo Sandoval was asked to participate in the 10th annual All-Stars Futures Game on July 13th at Yankee Stadium.

Sandoval, 21, was recently promoted to Connecticut after posting herculean numbers at High-A San Jose. In 68 games, Sandoval was hitting .359 with 12 homers, 25 doubles and 59 RBIs. In addition, his on-base percentage was an impressive .412 and Sandoval was slugging a remarkable .597.

"I'm really excited to play in the Futures Game," Sandoval said. " I played in 2006 in Pittsburgh and it was a great experience."

Sandoval's selection to the World team isn't the first honor he has received in the 2008 season. Pablo was selected to the California League All-Star team and after his appearance in that game, he was promoted to Double-A.

The XM All-Stars Future Game will be televised on ESPN2 on Sunday, July 13th at 12:30pm.
