Connecticut Defenders News Release

NORWICH, CT-The Connecticut Defenders ownership group, Navigators Baseball LLP has announced today that the team will be leaving Norwich, CT to play the 2010 season in Richmond, VA at the Diamond.

"On behalf of the Defenders organization we want to thank our friends and fans in the region for their loyal support over the years, especially this past season," said Team President and Managing Partner Lou DiBella. "It was a fantastic year on and off the field. I'm going to do everything in my power to facilitate and encourage the return of baseball to Dodd Stadium. I look forward to seeing all my friends in Norwich and the Southeastern Connecticut region at an affiliated game at Dodd Stadium in the near future."

The Defenders celebrated fifteen years of Double-A baseball at Dodd Stadium this past 2009 season and did it with class. The Class AA affiliate of the San Francisco Giants tied a single season franchise record in wins (83) leading to a Northern Division Title, saw a new franchise record set by 1B-Brett Pill with 109 RBI's, a handful of Eastern League accolades and more importantly a post-season run for the first time in seven years.
