Aeros Announce 2010 Home Schedule

September 23, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
Akron RubberDucks News Release

AKRON, OH - Although the glow from this season's Eastern League championship has not yet started to fade (not even a little), the Aeros are already gearing up for a title defense with the release of the 2010 home schedule today. Akron will look to make Canal Park just as intimidating to visitors next season as it was in 2009, when the Aeros were a league-best 46-23 at home.

The festivities begin Thursday, April 15th at 7:05 p.m. with the home opener against Bowie, part of a weeklong home stand that will feature the first Education Day at 10:35 a.m. April 21st against the Altoona Curve. The Binghamton Mets visit as part of a three-game series beginning April 30th, followed by fellow Northern Division club the Trenton Thunder for four games May 3rd-6th.

The Reading Phillies visit Canal Park for a quick four-game home stand May 13th-16th in a rematch of the Southern Division Championship Series, and the Aeros close May with visits from Harrisburg the 21st-23rd and Altoona the 24th-27th.

Akron renews what has become an intense rivalry with the Erie SeaWolves June 1st-3rd, while the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Portland Sea Dogs make their annual visits June 8th-13th.

The uniforms will be different June 22nd-24th but the passions will run just as deep, as the new Richmond, VA franchise makes its only trip to the Rubber City in 2010. Richmond hosted Triple-A baseball for more than 40 years as an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and is now the new home of the Connecticut Defenders, the club Akron bested three games to one in the Eastern League Championship Series. The six-game home stand concludes June 25th-27 with three games against Binghamton.

July will be a busy month at Canal Park, as the Aeros will have a pair of seven-game home stands. The month begins with a four-game set against Trenton from the 5th-8th, and Akron kicks off the unofficial "second half" of the year following the All-Star break with four games against Erie July 15th-18th and three against Altoona the 19th-21st. The Bowie Baysox return for their final visit of the season July 26th-28th, and the month concludes with four games against Reading July 29th-August 1st.

The Aeros will wind down home portion of the regular season with 13 games in 19 days in August, as the R-Phils come right back to town for three games August 10th-12th followed by New Britain making its first and only visit the 13th-15th. Harrisburg arrives for a weekend series August 20th-22nd, and the SeaWolves close out the year with a four-game series August 26th-29th.

Akron's schedule is once again a bastion of parity, as after eight games in April the club will host 17 games in May, 15 games in June, 17 in July and 14 in August. The Aeros also play six games on Mondays, 10 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 12 on Thursdays, and 11 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Game times will remain 7:05 p.m. for the majority of Monday-Saturday games, with all Sunday games once again starting at 1:35 p.m. The Saturday games April 17th and May 1st will also start at 1:35 p.m., the Education Days April 21st, May 6th, and May 27th will all start at 10:35 a.m., and the June 24th game will feature a special 12:05 p.m. start.

The full promotional schedule is still being developed, but favorites like Friday fireworks shows, Thirsty Thursdays, and other weekly concessions and ticket discounts are sure to return once again. For more information, please call the Aeros at (330) 253-5151.
