Harrisburg Senators News Release
HARRISBURG - The Harrisburg Senators today announced their schedule and home game times for the 2010 Eastern League season. The schedule will include 71 home games at the "new" Metro Bank Park and 71 road games. Harrisburg will open the season with a seven-game road trip April 8-14 with four games at Altoona (Pirates), including the season opener on April 8, and three games at Bowie (Orioles).
The 2010 home open and grand reopening of Metro Bank Park is Thursday, April 15 at 7:00pm against the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins). The Senators open their 2010 home schedule with a seven-game homestand. They'll play four games against New Britain and three against the Reading Phillies (Phillies). New Britain and Reading were both 2009 Eastern League playoff participants.
The standard game times for the 2010 season are unchanged from 2009 with Monday through Saturday home games beginning at 7:00pm and Sunday games beginning at 1:00pm. There are six exceptions to the standard games times with three weekday games at 10:30am (Wednesday, April 21st vs. Reading, Tuesday, May 4th vs. Bowie, and Thursday, May 20th vs. Reading) and three weekday games at 12:00pm (Wednesday, June 23rd vs. New Britain, Wednesday, July 21st vs. New Britain, and Wednesday, August 11th vs. Binghamton).
The Senators have their first three-team homestand since the 2005 season in May. All told in May the team has 21 home games, their most in a month in several years. The Senators are not home for any of the major summer holidays in 2010.
Harrisburg plays Bowie and New Britain eleven times each at Metro Bank Park in 2010 and Altoona ten times. Long-time rival Reading Phillies play nine games at Metro Bank Park in 2010. Senators fans will get to see division rivals Akron and Erie just three times each in 2010.
The home schedule also includes the 2010 Eastern League All-Star game which is taking place on Wednesday, July 14 at a time to be determined. There will be more information available in the coming weeks regarding the All-Star game and all the planned All-Star game activities.
Metro Bank Park is currently undergoing renovations as a part of phase II of a two-phase project announced last December by the City of Harrisburg and the Harrisburg Senators.
