Akron Aeros roster move

Akron RubberDucks News Release

The Aeros made a roster move today, as closer Randy Newsom was promoted to Class AAA Buffalo. No corresponding move has been announced, leaving Akron one player under the 24-man limit.

Newsom, who was just named to the Eastern League All-Star team today, was enjoying a record-breaking year as Akron's closer this season. The native of Cincinnati was a perfect 5-0 out of the Aeros bullpen, while also leading the league with 24 saves in 26 chances and sporting a sterling 1.75 ERA. His 24 saves this year set a new single-season record for the Aeros, and his 42 career saves are also a franchise record. Newsom led the Eastern League with 36 appearances this year, and turned in 15 straight scoreless outings from April 23rd to May 25th earlier this year.
