Butler (1-for-4, HR, RBI) hit his 11th home run and Arencibia (2-for-4, HR, RBI) followed with his third home run off winning pitcher Joey Martinez in the top of the second inning to stake New Hampshire to a 2-0 lead. The homers were the first two allowed at home by Martinez this season.

Connecticut (41-43) rallied to take the lead against Ricky Romero by scoring four runs on six singles in the bottom of the fifth inning. Antoan Richardson (1-for-4, RBI, R) looped a run-scoring single to left field, Ryan Rohlinger (1-for-4, RBI, R) hit an infield single to score Wald, and Richardson raced home on a Ryan Klosterman fielding error. Pablo Sandoval (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) broke the tie with a sharp single to left, scoring Rohlinger to give the Defenders a 4-3 lead.

Martinez (5-6) earned the victory, surrendering three runs on six hits in six innings. The right-hander, named to the Northern Division All-Star team earlier in the day, struck out two and did not allow a walk.

Dave McKae pitched two shutout innings of relief, and Kelvin Pichardo earned his fifth save with a perfect ninth to extend the Defenders' winning streak to five games.

Romero (4-5) went six innings, yielding four runs on 10 hits. He struck out five and walked one as New Hampshire suffered its sixth straight loss, with five of the six losses coming in one-run games.
