Harrisburg Senators News Release
For the second time this season, New Britain beat the Senators in walk-off fashion with a 4-3 win on Friday night. The walk-off loss came on a wild pitch thrown by Rafael Martin that allowed Chris Parmalee to score the winning run. The Sens threw two wild pitches in the game and committed four errors with two of the errors figuring in the scoring for New Britain.
Shairon Martis started for the Senators and though he wasn't as sharp as he has been lately, he pitched six strong innings and allowed just two runs, and only one earned. He left with a 3-2 lead when the Senators rallied with two runs in the sixth inning.
With the game tied in the bottom of the fifth inning, Debinson Romero homered for New Britain to give the 'Cats a 2-1 lead. They went on to load the bases on Martis, but he stranded the bases loaded with two strike outs and a ground out.
It was the first of two times in the game the Rock Cats would score a run, then load the bases, and not score further. It happened a second time when Jimmy Barthmaier came on to pitch in the seventh, and thank to an error and a bunt single the Rock Cats scored a run and loaded the bases with no outs. Cory VanAllen came in out of the bullpen and struck out the first two batters he faced before retiring the side on a fly ball to center field.
Eventually in the last of the ninth off of Rafael Martin, Chris Parmelee singled, moved to second on a bunt and then to third on a ground out. He then scored on the wild pitch while Mike Hollimon was batting.
Adam Fox had a big night offensively with two run scoring hits, both with two outs. He doubled in Bill Rhinehart in the second and then singled in Rhinehart in sixth with two outs, giving the Sens a 3-2 lead. Josh Johnson, Chris McConnell, Johnson and Rhinehart all had two hits.
Tyler Robertson was the winner for New Britain, pitching a scoreless ninth inning to improve to 5-3 while Rafael Martin fell to 1-1 with the loss.
Harrisburg falls to 45-33 with the loss while New Britain improves to 42-35. The Senators are now 2-2 on their seven-game road trip, with three games left in New Britain.
Games three and four of the series are on Saturday afternoon as the Sens and Rock Cats play a doubleheader beginning at 5:05 p.m. Both games can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 4:50 p.m.
