TRENTON, N.J. - Altoona scored seven runs across the sixth and seventh innings en route to a streak-snapping, 10-5, win over the Trenton Thunder on Friday night at Waterfront Park. The Curve pounded out 10 runs on 12 hits to outlast the Thunder and win for the first time since June 19th.

The sixth inning proved to be the difference maker for the Curve as they sent nine men to the plate to turn a 5-3 deficit into a 7-5 lead. Greg Picart started the inning with a walk off starter Dellin Betances to get things going. Betances then hit Starling Marte to put the tying run on at first and he would then depart the game in favor of reliever Brad Halsey (1-1).

After a sac bunt by Brock Holt to move up Picart and Marte, Josh Rodriguez hit a sac fly to bring Picart in and pull the Curve within one. Andrew Lambo delivered with two down and singled in Marte to even up the contest at five. Halsey then walked Quincy Latimore ahead of a hard-hit ball off the bat of Matt Curry towards first that was eventually ruled an error.

Lambo was able to come home on the play and the Curve had the lead at 6-5. Brad Chalk doubled behind Curry and brought home Latimore to put Altoona in front, 7-5.

Altoona added three more runs in the seventh off Thunder reliever Naoya Okamoto with a two-run home run by Lambo capping the scoring. Altoona scored the last eight runs in the game en route to their 35th victory of the season.

Starter Phil Irwin (2-1) earned the win after completing five innings and allowing five runs on 10 hits. The bullpen trio of Tim Alderson, Michael Dubee and Noah Krol combined to keep the Thunder off the scoreboard for the final four innings of play.

Curry finished the game 3-for-5 while Rodriguez, Lambo and Chalk all had two hits apiece. Latimore opened the scoring for Altoona in the second with his eighth home run of the year.

With the streak in the past, Altoona (35-44) and Trenton (47-33) will mix it up in the third game of the four-game series beginning at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday night from Waterfront Park. Rehabbing New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter will be in the lineup for the Thunder on Saturday night in the first of two rehab games he'll play here with Trenton. RHP Mike Colla (4-4, 3.25) will be tasked with silencing Jeter and the rest of the Thunder bats for Altoona while RHP Craig Heyer (7-3, 3.38) makes the start for Trenton.

Airtime on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

The Curve will return home on Monday, July 4th at 7 p.m. to open up an eight-game homestand at BCB. Good seats for the July 4th game vs. Akron are still available but are going fast. The box office windows at Blair County Ballpark will be open tomorrow (Saturday, July 2nd) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those fans wishing to purchase their tickets in person.
