BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Mets beat the Baysox 4-3 with a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday night in Binghamton. With the loss, the Baysox fall to 38-40 on the season.

The Baysox recorded nine hits in the game, led by second baseman Greg Miclat and first baseman Robbie Widlansky who each had a pair of hits. Right fielder Ronnie Welty went one-for-three in the contest with a walk, a double and two RBIs.

Binghamton took an early lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Matt Den Dekker lifted a single to left field to open the frame and moved to second when Jordany Valdespin singled to center. Baysox starter Mike Ballard struck out the next two batters before Salomon Manriquez lined a two-run double to left field to put the Mets up 2-0. Ballard retired Brahiam Maldonado on a ground out, and went on to retire nine of the next 10 batters.

Bowie tied the game with two runs in the top of the second inning. Catcher Caleb Joseph drew a one out walk and two batters later third baseman Brandon Waring doubled to center field to put runners on second and third with two outs. Welty followed with his 10th double of the season to center field, plating both runners and tying the game 2-2.

Ballard ran into trouble in the fifth inning as Binghamton broke the tie. Jean Luc Blaquiere and Eric Campbell led off with back-to-back singles to center field and Jose Coronado executed a sacrifice bunt to put runners on second and third base. Ballard hit Den Dekker with a pitch to load the bases with one out and Valdespin lined a single to right field. Blaquiere scored on the single, but Ballard recorded a strikeout and a fly out to escape the inning with the bases loaded and the Baysox trailing 3-2.

After putting runners on base in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings and failing to score runs, the Baysox tied the game in the top of the seventh inning. Welty drew a walk and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by center fielder Xavier Avery. Welty moved to third base on a ground out by Miclat and scored when left fielder LJ Hoes deliver a two-out RBI single to center field, tying the score at 3-3.

After retiring the last eight batters he faced, Ballard was relieved by right-hander Pat Egan to open the bottom of the eighth inning. Egan worked a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning before allowing a run without recording an out in the bottom of the ninth inning. Blaquiere led off the bottom of the ninth inning with an infield single to shortstop Pedro Florimon and pinch hitter Raul Reyes followed with a walk-off RBI double on a fly ball to center field.

Ballard did not record a decision after holding the Mets to three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five batters in seven innings. In five outings for Bowie, Ballard has thrown seven or more innings three times. Egan was charged with loss and falls to 0-1 after allowing one run on four hits in one-plus innings.

The teams meet again Saturday at 7:05 p.m. as RHP Tim Bascom (3-2, 3.51) takes the mound for the Baysox. He is opposed by RHP Brandon Moore (5-6, 4.44).
