TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Reading Phillies will meet in game two of a three-game series...The Flying Squirrels rode a four-run third inning and another quality start from left-hander Eric Surkamp to a 5-2 win over the R-Phils on Thursday night in front of 7,888 fans at FirstEnergy Stadium.
TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Left-hander Clayton Tanner gets the start in game two of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Making his 15th start of the season...Enters the season rated as the #30 prospect in the Giants farm system according to Baseball America...Earned the win in his last outing 6/25 against Erie...Allowed two runs, one earned, on six hits in 5 2/3 innings...Struck out four batters and walked one...Had the leadoff batter reach against him twice in six innings (scored once)...Recorded nine groundouts and three flyouts/popouts...Threw 93 pitches, 63 strikes...Threw 14 pitches or less in four of his six innings on the mound...Threw 24 pitches in the top of the second inning...Threw first pitch strikes to 19 of the 25 batters he faced...Win was his first at The Diamond in five starts at home...Club has scored two runs or less in eight of his 14 starts this season (2.86 R/GS)...Is 3-1 with a 2.66 ERA (7ER/23.2 IP) in four career starts against Reading...Allowed two runs on three hits in seven innings and earned the win while taking a perfect game through 6 2/3 innings in his lone start against the R-Phils this season 5/22 in Reading...Spent the entire 2010 season with Richmond and went 9-9 with a 3.68 ERA in 27 starts...Struck out 79 batters and walked 64 in 149 innings...Named an Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star, but did not pitch in the game...Finished the season ninth in the EL in ERA...Member of the San Francisco Giants 40-man roster...Selected in the third round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

Named a New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star...Selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 13th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft...Attended the University of Louisville...Went 18-19 with a 5.43 ERA in 73 games, 47 starts, in four seasons at Louisville...Member of the 2007 College World Series team; however, was injured (shoulder) and did not pitch.
JUNE BOON: The Flying Squirrels posted a 17-9 record in June, tied with Erie for the most wins in the Eastern League this past month...It is the first winning month of the season for the club and the winningest month in the two-year history of the franchise...Last season, Richmond's best months were April (12-9) and July (16-13) when the team was three-games over .500...The Flying Squirrels' .243 batting average this month is their highest through the first three months of the season; however, it is still the lowest of any of the Eastern League clubs...Richmond has posted a 3.10 ERA for the month, the highest of any of the first three months this season, but it is the lowest in the Eastern League.
LOUISVILLE SLUGGER: Flying Squirrels third baseman Chris Dominguez has hits in each of his last nine contests and is 15-for-37 (.405) over that stretch with eight doubles, a triple, two home runs (including a grand slam), 16 RBIs, and seven runs scored...The 24-year-old's longest hitting streak of the season is 13 games (5/29-6/13)...He was named the Eastern League Offensive Player of the Week 5/20-5/26 becoming the first Flying Squirrels' position player ever to win a weekly award...Overall, Dominguez is 16-for-51 (.314) at the plate over his first 13 games with Richmond and 12 of his 16 hits have gone for extra bases including nine doubles, a triple, and two home runs.
THE JOLLY ROGER: Outfielder Roger Kieschnick has hits in nine straight games, his longest hitting streak this season...The 24-year-old is batting .343 (12-for-35) over his last nine contests with two home runs, eight RBIs, and seven runs scored...Over his last 46 games, Kieschnick is batting .316 (55-for-174) with six doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 33 RBIs and 28 runs scored...The 24-year-old has 19 multi-hit games over that span...He was hitting .173 on 5/7 and was 18-for-104 with six doubles, one homer and eight RBIs in his first 29 games.
PITCHING IN: The Flying Squirrels pitching staff leads the Eastern League with a 2.91 ERA through 77 games and has allowed a league-low 265 runs...Richmond's pitching staff has allowed two runs or less in 30 of its 77 games (39%)...The club's 2.91 ERA is also the lowest of all of the full-season MiLB teams.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The Flying Squirrels have begun a stretch where they will play 20 out of 27 games at home including a doubleheader against Harrisburg 7/9...The club is 26-15 at home and is batting .254 in 41 games at The Diamond while averaging 4.66 runs per game at home (191R/41G)...Overall, the club is 15-21 on the road, and is batting .206 and averaging 3.27 runs per game (118R/36G) in 36 road contests.
