
Carreno Wins Seventh as Fisher Cats Top Sea Dogs

(Portland, ME)---Joel Carreno allowed one run in seven innings and Mark Sobolewski homered for the second straight game at Hadlock Field and the Fisher Cats topped Portland 6-2 on Friday night.
The Fisher Cats (47-31) won for the first time in five games on the current roadtrip. Sobolewski put New Hampshire up 2-0 in the fifth when he homered after Ricardo Nanita singled.
Mike McDade (2-for-4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI) hit his team-leading 13th home run leading off the top of the sixth inning against losing pitcher Brock Huntzinger (4-7) for a 3-0 lead. McDade, the Eastern League's leader now has 55 RBI.
The only run Portland (28-50) picked up against Carreno scored in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jeremy Hazelbaker singled and Alex Hassan doubled to make it 3-1.
New Hampshire pulled away in the top of the seventh inning. John Tolisano walked and moved to second on a bunt by Callix Crabbe. Justin Jackson doubled Tolisano in for a 4-1 lead. McDade singled home Jackson and he scored when Moises Sierra reached on an error.
Portland added a final run in the bottom of the eighth inning when Hazelbaker homered off reliever Yohan Pino to make it 6-2.
Carreno, an Eastern League All-Star, allowed five hits and one run. He walked two and struck out six.
The Fisher Cats continue the series in Portland on Saturday at 6:00pm. New Hampshire will start RHP Henderson Alvarez (4-3, 2.61) against RHP Stolmy Pimentel (0-8, 9.20) for the Sea Dogs. Radio coverage on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Dick Lutsk begins at 5:45pm.
