
Bernie Carbo to Speak at Faith & Family Night

Manchester, N.H.- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, are pleased to announce that former Red Sox outfielder Bernie Carbo will speak during Faith & Family Night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Thursday, July 7, at 5:30 p.m., prior to the Fisher Cats game against the New Britain Rock Cats at 7:05 p.m.
Carbo, who played 12 seasons in the Major Leagues, will participate in a pregame discussion with fans concerningfaith and the role it plays in the lives of professional athletes striving to make it to the Major Leagues. Also, Carbo will discuss how players can incorporate their faith into a lifestyle which can be difficult in staying connected with friends, family and places of worship.
"We are elated that Mr. Carbo has decided to join our fans in an open forum discussion and provide his insight and experiences during our first Faith and Family Night of the season," said Matt Person, Fisher Cats Vice President of Business Operations. "It will be a wonderful evening with a Red Sox great and Atlas Fireworks to cap it all off."
Carbo, who played five seasons in a Red Sox uniform, is best known for his pinch-hit, three-run homerun in the eighth inning of Game 6 during the 1975 World Series to help Boston defeat the Cincinnati Reds. In his rookie year, Carbo won the 1970 National League Rookie of the Year Award while with the Reds. After his playing career, Carbo founded the Diamond Club Ministry, a Christian organization established in 1993 which holds evangelistic camps and revival services for youth and their families.
Faith & Family Night discussionsare non-denominational and are open to all faiths as they do not promote any specific beliefs.
