CURVE, Pa. - A season-high crowd of 5,675 at Blair County Ballpark Saturday night has lifted the Altoona Curve's 2011 attendance pace ahead of last season through the first 17 home dates.

"It's a really good sign," said Curve General Manager Rob Egan. "Even though we've had an abnormally wet spring and we haven't had the benefit of a huge, one-day draw like last year's professional debut of Stephen Strasburg, we're outpacing 2010 so far."

Through the Curve's first 17 home dates of 2011, total attendance is 55,362 for an average of 3,257. Last year through 17 dates, Curve attendance was 54,760, making the average crowd 3,221.

"I'm really optimistic that we will have our strongest year since the economic downturn of 2008," said Egan. "Our fans and sponsors have weathered the tough times and we're seeing them express more confidence than the past couple of years with their support. What makes it even more exciting is that our best dates are yet to come. We look forward to seeing even bigger crowds in the days ahead."
