
Sea Dogs Swept by Senators with 9-3 Loss

Portland, Maine- The Harrisburg Senators slugged three home runs to defeat the Portland Sea Dogs 9-3 Wednesday afternoon. The Senators sweep the Sea Dogs who have now lost a season high seven straight games.
Tyler Moore, Tim Pahuta, and Chris Rahl homered for the Nationals affiliate who improved their record to an Eastern League best 73-57.
Harrisburg got the scoring started in the top of the second inning when Moore connected for his Eastern League leading 28th home run, a solo shot off Jeremy Kehrt over the Maine Monster. Moore collected his 81st RBI on the home run surpassing Will Middlebrooks for the league lead.
Pahuta crushed his second home run of the season and 11th of the season in the fourth, a two run homer into the U.S. Cellular Pavilion off of Kehrt as the Senators opened up a 3-1 lead.
Portland got a run back in the bottom of the fourth when Jeff Howell swatted his second home run in a Sea Dogs uniform, a line shot over the Maine Monster off former big leaguer Oliver Perez. Howell was the offensive standout for Portland who went 3-for-5 with a double, home run, and two runs scored.
Kehrt (2-1) suffered the loss yielding three runs on four hits in 5.2 innings on the mound.
Chris Martin made his Hadlock Field debut in relief of Kehrt. Martin served-up a solo home run to Rahl, 3-for-4, in the seventh as the Senators extended the lead to 5-1.
Harrisburg would explode for five runs in the eighth off Martin highlighted by a two run triple by Adam Fox.
Ryan Dent smashed his first Hadlock Field home run in the bottom of the eighth for Portland.
Jimmy Barthmaier (5-3) earned the win for Harrisburg tossing three innings in relief allowing two runs on three hits.
The Sea Dogs embark on their final road trip of the season with stops in Reading and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The road trip kicks-off with a 7:05 PM contest Thursday night against the Reading Phillies. The Sea Dogs will send right-handed knuckleball pitcher Charlie Haeger (2-0, 3.34) to the mound. Reading will counter with righty Tyson Brummett (3-7, 4.40).
Portland will return to Hadlock Field for the final four games of the season; September 2nd through 5th against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Tickets are available for all four games and can be purchased by calling the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 207-879-9500 or order online at www.seadogs.com.
