First-Place Fisher Cats Pound Thunder 16-3 Wednesday Night

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Manchester, NH)-Eight different New Hampshire players had at least two hits and Drew Hutchison won his Double-A debut as the Fisher Cats ran away from Trenton in a 16-3 win on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Hutchison (1-0), who just turned 21, made his first start for the Fisher Cats. He worked five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits. He walked two and struck out seven to pick up his 12th win of the season pitching for New Hampshire, Advanced-A Dunedin and Class-A Lansing in the Blue Jays organization.
New Hampshire keeps a four-game lead in the Eastern League's Eastern Division after Reading held off New Britain 4-2. The Fisher Cats "Magic Number" to clinch a playoff berth now stands at seven with 12 games remaining to play.
The Fisher Cats (71-59) scored the first eight runs of the game, opening the scoring with back-to-back home runs in the second by Travis d'Arnaud and Danny Perales (2-for-5, 2 R, 3 RBI). d'Arnaud leads the team with 19 home runs.
Moises Sierra (2-for-6, 2 R, RBI) drove in two runs with a single in the third and Yan Gomes added a two-run double in the frame for a 6-0 lead.
Anthony Gose (3-for-5, 2 R, 2 RBI) followed a Craig Stansberry single with a triple in the fourth to make it 7-0. John Tolisano picked up the first of his three runs batted in with a single in the sixth.
Trenton (64-65) plated three runs in the eighth, two scoring on a double by Melky Mesa to make the score 8-3.
The Fisher Cats added eight runs on eight hits in the bottom of the eighth inning for the 16-3 final. 14 batters came to the plate. Jonathan Diaz had two hits in the inning- a single and a double - scoring two runs. Tolisano drove in two runs with a single and a walk, and Anthony Gose had two singles in the inning.
Chase Whitley (3-4) took the loss for Trenton in what was his first pro start.
The Fisher Cats continue the final homestand of the regular season on Thursday with a 7:05pm game against Western Division-leading Harrisburg at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. It will be Military Appreciation Night, Boston Bruins Stanley Cup Celebration Night, and an Atlas Fireworks Show will follow the game.
