Senators Use Long Ball to Sweep Portland with 9-3 Win

The Harrisburg Senators completed a three-game sweep of the Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday afternoon with a 9-3 win. The Senators improved to 73-57 with the win and swept a road series for the first time this season.

Tyler Moore, Tim Pahuta, and Chris Rahl all homered for the Senators while Adam Fox had a two-run triple in the Sens big five-run eighth inning. Moore homered over the "Maine Monster" in the second, Pahuta hit his home run, a two-run shot to right field that went approximately 430' and Rahl hit a solo homer to right field in the seventh.

Leading 4-1 into the eighth, the Senators scored five runs to break the game open. Along with the two-run triple by Fox, Archie Gilbert, Devin Ivany and Erik Komatsu all had run scoring singles. Rahl broke out of his slump with three hits while Moore and Gilbert both had two hits.

Oliver Perez started and pitched into and out of trouble during his 4.2 innings of work. Jimmy Barthmaier earned the win, pitching three innings while Pat McCoy finished up pitching a scoreless ninth.

Harrisburg will at least maintain their lead over Bowie and Richmond as both teams play night games on Wednesday.

The Senators road trip continues with the first of four against New Hampshire on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Harrisburg sends RH Erik Arnesen to the hill against RH Yohan Pino for New Hampshire. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
