News and Notes
REPEAT PERFORMANCE?: Tonight, the Sea Dogs and Binghamton Mets play the second of a four-game series...The Mets will send lefty starter Mark Cohoon to the mound...Last Wednesday, Cohoon tossed a gem, striking out 11 Sea Dogs including six in a row at one point...Portland managed to score two runs while Cohoon was still in the game, but both were unearned due to an error.
SO CLOSE....AGAIN: Portland once again tried to stage a late rally, only to fall short in the bottom of the ninth inning...Leadoff man Che-Hsuan Lin got on base with an error...Then, Alex Hassan smacked a double...But Erik Turgeon managed a strikeout of Tim Federowicz before Ryan Lavarnway's sacrifice fly to score Lin, making it 6-3...Turgeon then got Jorge Padron to strike out swinging, ending the rally.
