TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Trenton Thunder will meet in game two of a four-game series...The Flying Squirrels rallied from a 5-2 deficit, scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to a 9-5 series-opening win over the Thunder in front of 4,692 fans on Monday night at The Diamond.
TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Right-hander Daryl Maday gets the start in game two of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Received a no-decision in his last outing 4/19 at Trenton...Allowed four hits over 5 2/3 scoreless innings...Struck out five batters and walked one...Stranded five runners on base including four in scoring position...Three of the four hits he allowed were singles...Picked off Ray Kruml at first base in the bottom of the third inning (2nd PO)...Retired the leadoff batter in all six innings in which he appeared...Recorded eight ground outs and three fly outs...Threw 92 pitches, 58 strikes...Threw 17 pitches or more in three of his six innings on the mound...Threw first-pitch strikes to 14 of the 21 batters he faced...Fewest hits allowed in a start since allowing four hits 5/28/10 against Bowie...First start in which he did not allow a run since 5/12/10 at Bowie (5 2/3 IP)....Did not face Trenton last season...Is 2-1 with a 4.91 ERA in five career starts against the Thunder...Spent the majority of the 2010 season with Richmond...Won his first seven decisions including six straight 4/15/10-5/12/10...Named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week 4/26/10-5/2/10...Named an EL Mid-Season All-Star...Did not pitch in the game due to promotion...Promoted to Triple-A Fresno 7/3/10...Went 8-5 with a 2.34 ERA in 16 starts prior to promotion...Went 1-4 with a 9.21 ERA in seven games including five starts with Fresno...Sent back down to Richmond 8/4/10...Went 1-3 with a 9.68 ERA in nine games, two starts, after being sent down...Selected in the 30th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft...Attended the University of Arkansas.

"O" WHAT A NIGHT: The Flying Squirrels offense scored a season-high nine runs on a season-best 12 hits in last night's 9-5 win over the Thunder...Richmond's previous season high in runs scored was seven, which most recently occurred 4/21 against Altoona...The club's previous season-high in hits was 11, set on Opening Day, 4/7, against New Britain...Additionally, the Flying Squirrels enjoyed their most productive offensive inning with a six-run, bottom of the sixth inning...The club matched its season-high for most hits in an inning while sending a season-high 11 batters to the plate in the frame...It was the second time this season the team batted around in an inning (4/21 against Altoona, bottom 6th)...Richmond has scored 24 runs through the first four games of its current seven-game homestand...The Flying Squirrels scored just 12 runs on their six-game road trip (1-5) prior to the start of the current homestand.
ROGER THAT: Outfielder Roger Kieschnick collected a season-high three hits, going 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored...It was the second multi-hit game of the season for the 24-year-old and his first multi-RBI game...It was the most hits in a game for the former third-round pick since going 3-for-4 6/22/10 at Akron...Two of his three hits came in Richmond's six-run, sixth inning...It was just the second time that a Flying Squirrels' batter collected two hits in the same inning...Tyler LaTorre had two hits in the top of the sixth inning 9/2/10 at Erie...Entering last night's contest, Kieschnick was 1-for-21 (.048) at the plate over his previous five games including going 0-for-7 in Richmond's 11-5, 15-inning loss against Altoona on Friday night.
HERE'S JOHNNY: Catcher Johnny Monell went 2-for-4 last night with a two-run double and his first Double-A home run...His six total bases were a season-high for a Flying Squirrels' batter...It was the second time the 25-year-old had two extra base hits in a game, the only Richmond batter to do so...The home run was just the fourth of the season for the club, fewest in the Eastern League...Three of the four home runs hit by the Flying Squirrels have come at The Diamond.
RIGHT ON Q: Left-hander David Quinowski tossed a perfect 4 1/3 innings in relief to earn the win for the Flying Squirrels in last night's contest...It was the longest outing in the 25-year-old's six-year career...His previous long outing was four innings 5/14/06 against Greensboro while with Low-A Augusta...It matched the longest outing by a Flying Squirrels' reliever in the two-year history of the franchise...A pair of Richmond relievers went 4 1/3 innings last season, most recently Mike MacDonald 7/19/10 against Trenton...In 19 Double-A appearances spanning the last two seasons, Quinowski is 3-0 with a 2.36 ERA while limiting opposing hitters to a .179 (17-for-95) batting average.
