AKRON, OH - The Akron Aeros got an RBI single from Juan Diaz in the bottom of the fifth inning and won game two of the doubleheader against the Bowie Baysox 1-0 Tuesday at Canal Park.
Left-handed pitcher Nick Hagadone came in from the bullpen and got the win for the Aeros pitching three scoreless innings, allowing one hit, striking out four and walking none.
Right-handed pitcher Wynn Pelzer got the loss for Bowie pitching five innings, giving up one earned run on six hits, walking one and striking out four.
The Aeros (9-10) began the bottom of the fifth inning with a Juan Apodaca walk. Karexon Sanchez sacrificed him to second. Tim Fedroff followed with a single off the glove of shortstop Pedro Florimon advancing Apodaca to third. Later in the frame, Diaz singled to right field for the game's only run as the Aeros won game two of this four-game series.
Akron will look to make it two straight over Bowie Wednesday night at Canal Park. The Aeros will give the ball to left-handed pitcher T.J. McFarland. The Baysox (9-9) will start lefty Rick Zagone. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard on Fox Sports 1350 AM or online at sportsradio1350.com. Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m.
Wednesday is also "Happy Birthday Herm Edwards! âWe Play To Win The Game'" Night. If the Aeros win on Wednesday, fans can exchange their ticket stubs for a free ticket to another home game in April or May (non-fireworks night).
